Florida’s website lawsuits almost doubled in a year.
961 in federal court in 2025, up from 470. Only New York had more.
Five times as many as in 2021
961 lawsuits Filed in Florida federal courts in 2025
Up 104% from 470 in 2024, and from 185 in 2021. That is about 1 in 3 of every federal website accessibility lawsuit in the country; New York, first, had 1,021.
New lawyers Why the count jumped
The report doesn’t give a Florida-only reason. Across the country it puts the rise down to new plaintiffs’ lawyers taking on website cases.
Not counted Letters and state cases
These are federal lawsuits only. Demand letters that settled before anything was filed, and cases in state courts, are left out, so more businesses were contacted than the count shows.

What we found on 35 Florida business sites
Dentists, law offices, salons, vets, hotels, restaurants and shops in 26 cities, from Miami Beach to Panama City, scanned in October 2026. Median score 77 out of 100 (lowest 34, highest 94). These five problems came up most, and each one has a free tool that shows you where it is.
28 of 35 Text too faint to read
Light gray on white, white on a pale beach photo, pastel buttons. Make the text darker or its background stronger.
18 of 35 Links with no name
Usually the Facebook, Instagram or phone icons, and the logo. A screen reader says just “link”.
10 of 35 Embedded maps, videos or booking tools with no title
The Google map on the contact page and the booking widget are the usual ones.
6 of 35 Links you can only spot by color
A link inside a paragraph with no underline, in a color close to the text around it.
5 of 35 Photos with no description
Menu photos, rooms, product photos and the team picture are read out as nothing, or as a file name.
Every site in the sample had at least one problem (that is how they were picked), so these numbers describe sites with problems, not every site in Florida. 35 sites is a small sample.
