  • 34 sites, 2 problems, score 92 Wix

Links with no name: 17 of 34. Text too faint to read: 13 of 34. No Wix site blocked zoom. What was left was mostly icon links and text colors the owner picked.

  • 9 sites, 7 problems, score 75 Webflow

Links with no name: 8 of 9. Text too faint to read: 7 of 9. A small sample. Webflow leaves the markup to whoever builds the site, so it varies a lot.

Text too faint to read: 53 of 71. Links with no name: 35 of 71. Templates rarely block zoom (1 of 71). Faint text from light template colors is the main problem.

  • 117 sites, 11 problems, score 79 Coded by hand or by an agency

Text too faint to read: 76 of 117. Links with no name: 55 of 117. No builder at all. Photos without descriptions were more common here (27 of 117) than on any builder.

  • 10 sites, 13 problems, score 74 Duda

Text too faint to read: 7 of 10. Links with no name: 6 of 10. A small sample, mostly sites built by marketing agencies.

  • 27 sites, 14 problems, score 79 Shopify

Text too faint to read: 20 of 27. Links with no name: 14 of 27. Store pages repeat the same problem across every product card, so the count adds up fast.

Square Online (formerly Weebly) sites had a median of just 1 problem, but 21 of 28 blocked zoom, a setting Square controls and owners can’t change. GoDaddy (7 sites) and Framer (1) were too few to count. From our own scans of home pages in October 2026, with the builder read from each page’s code. We picked these sites because each had at least one serious issue, so the numbers describe sites with problems, not every site on each builder.

What the builder decides, and what you do

  • The builder decides some things

Whether people can zoom on a phone is mostly set by the builder. Square Online blocked it on 21 of its 28 sites, WordPress themes on 58 of 242, Squarespace on 1 of 71 and Wix on none.

  • You decide most of the rest

Faint text was the most common problem on almost every builder: 371 of all 546 sites. That comes from the colors picked for the site, not the builder. So do icon links with no name and photos with no description.

  • Switching rarely pays

Moving a site costs far more than fixing it. Most sites had only 2 kinds of problem, repeated, so one change in your current builder often clears many.

Faint text? Check your colors. Photos? Write a description. Or work through the 15-minute checklist.

Or let us fix it
